Show 'FIREMEN HAVE ' BUSY TIME OVER WEEKEND Damage Held To Minimum As Firemen Respond To Six Fires In Two Days ' It was a little too hot to be comfortable over the week-end in the opfnion of Springville firemen fire-men who responded to six alarms during Saturday and Sunday. The record runs began Saturday Satur-day at 1:30 a. m. when sparks from a train set dry grass afire near the Mark Cook residence on South Main Street. In the afternoon of the same day, firemen were called to the Fred Alleman residence, 740 South Fourth East street, where his barn filled with baled hay was burning. Damage from the blaze, which was thought to have been started by children with matches, was estimated at approximately $200 Firemen had a peaceful night but at 10 a. m. Sunday a gas stove exploded at the Rebecca Hall home at 169 North, 2nd East, to which members of the department were called. There was no damage reported. re-ported. ' Sunday afternoon, two blazes were reported. The first at 4 p. m.. at the Victor Anderson home, 1001 North Main street, caused damage of $10, when sparks from the chimney set the roof afire. Later in the day, Jiremen responded respon-ded to a call at the Western Hide and Fur on South Main street, when a truck caught afire and again were called out when sparks from the train set grass afire near the Cook property Sunday evening. |
