Show TWO NEW PITS TO FACILITATE GENEVA WORK Two additional soaking pits, or reheating furnaces, have been put into operation by Geneva Steel Co., officials announced Friday. Construction Con-struction was started last January. Tho pits, which cost aproxi-matcly aproxi-matcly $375,000, can heat 240 tons of cold steel per day each 'and will supplement 12 others. While the new pits are not part of the company's program to convert con-vert the plant to production of hot strip coils, in addition to plate and structural shapes, they will facilitate facili-tate the handling of the new product pro-duct when the conversion project is completed. Contractors for the construction job were Utah Construction Co. for excavation and concrete work; . Amsler-Morton Corp. for the actual ac-tual pits and Alphonse Custodis Chimney Co. for a new stack. |
