Show UTILITIES PLANT GOING UP AT STATE PRISON SITE Excavation for the heating plant and storage rooms of the new Utah State Prison utility building at Point of the Mountain was in full swing Monday as huge bulldozers and carry-alls moved hundreds of yards of dirt. When completed, the new building build-ing will connect the two cell blocks at the prison site. It will house the mess room, kitchen, laundry room and combination recreation re-creation room and auditorium, with the boiler and storage rooms in the basement. The building will be of reinforced rein-forced concrete construction, 286 feet long and 95 feet wide. Part of the building will be two stories high, with one-story wings o n each side. Jensen Bros., Salt Lake City contractors have the general contract con-tract for constructing the building. build-ing. According to Hans Jensen, who is supervising operations at the present time, it will be completed com-pleted within a year. Cost of the building is estimated at $612,000. |
