Show Meat Boycott In Springville Has Varied Reactions Housewives in several cities .today .to-day extended their meat price strike, confident that eventually they would force prices down. At Los Angeles, the housewives league against high prices organized organ-ized on a permanent basis and set up a committee to prepare a "fair price list" on meats. They planned to submit the list to packers and retailers to "negotiate" "nego-tiate" price reductions. Austin, Tex., housewives decided to extend their ban on meat purchases pur-chases until Sept. 1. The telephone -campaign to enlist Springville women to join in the meat buyers strike this week, Wednesday had had little effect on some grocery stores, according to the butchers, while others reported re-ported there was a marked decrease in meat buying this , week. Mrs. Rodney Stebbins who initiated in-itiated the boycott in Springville stated that with exception of one housewife, every woman called on the phone in Springville by herself her-self and other committee members, stated they would cooperate in the effort to reduce the price of meat , and buy little or no meat during the two week period. |
