Show GOVEiHI MAY QUESTION SLACKERS Wek er County Capitalists Who Have Dodged Loan in Unenviable Position. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, May 1. The liberty bond "slackers" of Ogden are destined to receive re-ceive a call in the next few days from a federal official and questioned as to their reasons for failing to come to Uncle Sam's aid and lend him a little of their hoarded wealth. This was an unofficial announcement from an enthusiastic member of the Liberty Lib-erty loan committee for the city today. The fact was later substantiated by a conference between a federal agent and a member of the loan committee. As to what action will be taken will not be known until the next step is taken by the government. In issuing its statement to the public yesterday, the Ogden Clearing House association as-sociation and the Liberty loan committee gave the first warning of the drastic steps which will be taken with loan "slackers" in the city and county. A member of the committee said that it is a fact that there are men of considerable con-siderable wealth in Ogden who have not subscribed a cent for any one of the three Liberty loans, nor have they contributed a penny to the Red Cross or any of the welfare funds. Thee names, it is stated, will be given the widest publicity in the city and state immediately upon the close of the bond campaign. |
