Pioneer day, Thursday, enjoyed as a holiday from business, was celebrated in many quiet picnh parties of families fami-lies and friends in'tbc canyons, and at the parks. Miscellaneous Events MRS. E. R. VAN COTT entertained Friday afternoon at a patriotic bridge tea in celebration of her seventh wedding anniversary at the homo of her mother, Mrs. C. H. Gitsch, where she tis making her home while Dr. Van Cott 'is in France. The living room was decorated with flags of the allies, and goldenglow was used in the library. The tea table was covered with a eluny lace cloth, and had as a centerpiece an ivory basket of red, white and blue flowers. The same colors w-ere carried out in the ices and candies. Guests played bridge early in the afternoon aft-ernoon and about fifty more came in I for tea. Presiding at the tea table were Mrs. Oscar Van Cott, Mrs. T. II. Young and Miss Georgianna Smurth-iwaitc. Smurth-iwaitc. Assisting these were Miss Iva Gitsch and Miss Daisy Beveridge. The prizes for the games were thrift stamps, and were awarded to Miss Ezra Palmer and Miss Mary Van Cott. Mr. and Mrs. J. Hill Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Johnson entertained at a lurge dancing party Monday evening in honor of Miss Moe Andrrson and Miss Anna Forland, who recently re- porches were decorated in patriotic colors. Punch was served on the veranda ver-anda and dancing was enjoyed on the lawn. Assisting the hostesses were Miss Mattio Longcnbacker, Miss Edith Teudt, Miss Margaret Smith, Miss Rachel Ra-chel ' Andreson, Miss Carrie Smith. Fifty guests were invited. Mrs. Louis Lc Vine entertained at her home Monday evening in honor .of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Ritchie of Parker, Idaho. The table decorations were petunias pe-tunias in a variety of shades.
