A person cannot help arriving' at any other verdict after having-taken such a trip ts the writer has just finished. In company with Roy Hemphill, manager of the Western Motor Car Kales company, and "Ted" Herlihy, northwestern manager man-ager for the Chalmers Motor company, we drove through the eastern- and central portions of Oreg-on in a Chalmers Duplex, Du-plex, covering a distance of approximately approximate-ly (50 miles. The section of country visited, for the most part, was mountainous in character, consequently subjecting the car to a most .severe test, but through its wonderful performance it commanded our admiration from the very bog-hming-. and inspired in us the assurance of a safe arrival at our destination. Some of the grades over which we traveled trav-eled were from 20 to 25 per emit, but the Chalmers negotiated them with the utmost ut-most ease, never requiring- below intermediate inter-mediate gear: at other plaees the roads were extremely rough, but, with the ease of operation of the Chalmers, it was at all times under perfect control, which made riding a pleasure. We had not "progressed very far on this trip until the wisdom of nueh'a vinitation was manifested. The dealers appreciated appreci-ated our interest In their welfare -a ud all problems incidental to the automobile business were freely discussed, resulting hi a bigger and better program for selling sell-ing Chalmers cars.
