Show HARDEN QUOTES THE PRESIDENT'S SPEECH German Editor Devotes Much of His Paper to Proving Von Hert-ling Hert-ling Wrong. AMSTERDAM, July 27. Maximilian Harden devotes practically the whole of today's Die Zukunft to proving that Chancellor von Hertling's charge against the allies that-they want to annihilate Germany is untrue. Harden quotes President Wilson's Mount Vernon Ver-non speech and A. J. Balfour's last house of commons speech to show how bitter the entente nations are against militarism, but that they arc ready to give the German people a fair chance. He compares theso speeches with those recently delivered either by the German chancollor or various junkers in the Prussian upper house, where the demand for unlimited annexations is continually heard. He concludes by saying: "Germany must begin to see clearly on which side is the will to annexations. annexa-tions. Germany must begin to fight this pov.-er iu her midst a power witli which Germany herself long ago became be-came disgusted. |
