Show BEGIN ORGANIZATION OF LEWIS DIVISION CAMP LEWIS, Tacoma," Wash., July 27. One hundred men and three officers, with Major Thomas Brass in command, arrived here today frAm Fort Leavenworth. Leaven-worth. Knn., to form the nucleus of the j 213th field signal battalion of the Thir-! teenth division. In addition to Major1 Brass, the oiher officers are Captain 1 Eugene H. McDonald and First Lieuten- ; ant Joel W. P.akor. All of the enlisted men arc trained spe-: cia lists, and before being ordered here, they pursued a thorough course in field signal work in the service school at Fort Leavenworth. The batralion will be f;Ued to the number num-ber au'horied by the tables of organization, organiza-tion, LV2 men. three captains and nine first lieutenants. Major Itr;s was a first lieutenant with the Second Illinois infantry with (I'-nera! Persing on the latter s punitive expedition into Mexico in 1 !!. He aiso is a veteran vet-eran of the Spanish-American war and the Philippine insurrection. |
