''Htv': ! ' " 7 In the 1919 line of automobiles, now on display in the Inter-Mountain Motor Car company showrooms on Social Hall avenue, Kissel has undoubtedly reached the highest point of attainment so far even approached by designers .of fine cars. The picture shows one of the new Kissel beauties, or rather, three of the Kissel beauties, as the camera man caught them while enjoying an afternoon spin last week. L. P. Foreman and W. II. "White are i busy men these days, answering ques- tions and receiving congratulations . from hosts of friends as well as com-i com-i petitive dealers on tho new 1919 line of KisselKars. And, without a doubt, it is the greatest surprise that has been sprung in Motorville for many seasons, tliis new 1919 line, for while many dealers are hoping for new 1919 models some time next fall, some have franklv admitted that their manufacturers will uot even attempt a new 1919 model, but will be forced to go through to the 190 season with the style of cars that have been on the market for the last ten or twelve months. All of which achis to the justified elation ela-tion of the local Kissel Kar dealers and again demonstrates that Kissel is proudly uphoklip" the ' reputation he established when he originated the all-year all-year type of car, as being the real pioneer in the automobile industry. To follow, to imitate and to emulate are very natural and really excusable practices in automobile manufacture but the real genius the man with a vision creates. He paves tho way and his products are naturally taken as a criterion on the trend of future events in his chosen field. Indeed, Kissel has stepped out with the new " Silver Special'' models and reached forward at least two years in the creation of this new "symphony on wheels-" for he lias created ri car that will flash the name "Kissel" on the retina of the mind 's eye the moment "beautiful" is mentioned in connection with an automobile he has out-Kisselcd Kissel and has produced a masterpiece he has made a heap of trouble, too, for other manufacturers who are making mak-ing fine cars, for now old lines, old methods and old ideals will be forced into the discard, while designers and engineers will be commanded to ' ' create! " " produce! ' ' but meanwhile, mean-while, Kissel has a good twelve-month start on tho field. And 'tis not bcautv alone that wins favor for the new "Silver Specials" t'or while every inch of the beautiful stre.-im line body; evorv refinement of its furnishings, including the beautiful aluminum instrument board, the luxurious luxuri-ous hodv-fitting comfort scats, its nifty "trench mortar" hefld and tail lights its bevel plate windows, its heavy tailored tai-lored duck top, its natural hickory top frame, its heavily nickeled and silver trimmings all speak of attention to the minutest detail in beauty and lax-urv; lax-urv; there's a motor under that graceful grace-ful hood that, though absolutely silent and noiseless, speaks for itself with a steady flow of power that is absolutely irresistible. "It's the same style motor as the former Kissel-built motor. 1 ' exnhti ned loc Held, who was demonstrating the car to some admirers last week, "hut it ts bigger and much more powerful" and just to prove what it could do, .loo turned her rose up he ' ' State street Ibill," and without the slightest effort the Capitol building was reached and not a gea"T shifted "and this is her first Time out of the showrooms," said Joe. "But how about the 'Main street hill?' " ehallenged ono who hailed from Missouri. "With a tolerant smile. Joe drove down the hill and over to Main street, coming com-ing to a full stop at First Xorth. ' S ow, all ye doubters, f orevcrinore hold your peace!" he exclaimed, as he started the m o tor and slipped in the clutch. Silently, the beautiful "Silver Special" glided away ns though proud ot the opportunity of showing its prowess. prow-ess. Joe dropped into second gear, then third, ami began the climb up the long, steep ascent. Without a- quiver without a murmur mur-mur tho great forty-five horsepower motor purred along, and, picking up speed all the wav-, rounded the turn at the top of the hill and glided to a graceful, easy stop at the Capitol building build-ing steps. . "Thev say that beauty is only skin deep," said the delightedly surprised passengers, "but in the Kissel Silver Snecial Sixes we have f on nil beauty that goes clear in, to the very heart of the motor." |
