Entertaining the opinion that health conditions in Salt Lake will not permit conducting a school nominating convention conven-tion on November 29, the convention committee, elected two years ago to select se-lect dates for school primaries in the Fifth municipal precinct, yesterchtv Heckled He-ckled to cancel the call for rt nominating convention on that date. The com nut-tee nut-tee will make public announcement -of all such persons as have signified their intention in-tention of entering the primaries for nomination nom-ination fis candidates for a place on the Fifth precinct school boar:!. ! The retiring trustee is W. J. Barrette, whose office for a two-year term will ex- ' pire this year. Four candidates are already al-ready in the field for the place, including the present incumbent. Thev are J. B. Moreton, Miss Kate Williams and C. A. Weaver. ' Nominations will he accepted up to the j close of November by L,. p. Jiuld, clerk of the hoard of education, and the regular regu-lar election of the board will be conducted con-ducted on December 4 in places to be selected and announced by the board of trustees. The Fifth precinct convention committee commit-tee is composed of P. P. L'hriste risen, crairman; Charles Baldwin. James Chris- tensen, Julian Bamberger, A. E. Grnham, Harold P. Fnbian and Charles M. Morris. Announcement of candidates officially known was made at a meeting of the committee in the law office of Charles Baldwin in the Continental Bank building build-ing yesterday noon. A committee consisting of the Rev. P. A. Simpkin, S. Abbott Maginnls, Lon :J. Haddock. Earl J. Glade and A. C. liees yesterday obtained from John C. Howard, president of the Utah Oil Refining Re-fining company, his consent to succeed himself as a member of the board of education from the First district, district. There are three members of the board of education to be elected, one fro ni each of the following districts, 1, 3 and 5. Considerable interest is being shown in the coming election in the Granite school district December 4. Tliero are three members of the board of education to be elected, ono from each of the following districts, 1, 3 and 5. K. C. B:'-gley, at present representing district No. 1, will again .be in the field for re-election. James E. Moss, former principal of the Granite high school and ex-cle-k of the Granite district board,, will oppose him. In districts Nog. 3 and o O. W. Carl- i son and N. P. Peterson, respectively, have1 announced their candidacy. J |
