Roskelley, Mayor John W. Peters, members of the city council and citizens will motor to Mantua for the purpose of turning the water into the new system, which is .now completed. According to the officials and others. Brigham City will then have one , of the finest water systems for culinary purposes to he found anywhere In the intermountaln, country. At this time all citizens will participate In one of the largest celebrations ever held in Brigham City. It was In the summer of 1917 that a mass meeting was called here for the purpose of discussing the advisability of bonding the city for SSO.000 to extend its j system and procure sufficient pure water ' to properly care for the needs of the J rapidly growing municlpaJlty. The meet ing was unanimously in favor of bonding. : and, as a result, city officfals were authorized au-thorized to proceed with the huje and . benelicent undeutaking. 1 The bonds were sold at once, and early this year the contract was let and con- ! struct ion work commenced. Workmen have been continuously employed until this evening, when the final touches brought the task to a completion in every detail. A fifteen-inch pipe will carry the water from the new springs to the'old tine at Wlllomere, where it will connect with the old line- of twelve-inch pipe and run on down to the reservoirs. From these reservoirs res-ervoirs the city will be served 1-v one eight-inch system and one twelve-inch system, both of which will distribute the water. The twelve-Inch system is the 1 one just completed and runs from the res- ervoirs north to Second South street, west to Main and north on Main to For- ! est. From this point the pipes decrease in size until, in the end, they are as small as three Inches. The construction work has been under the supervision of City Manager C. O. : Roskelley. |
