Show POCATELLO GROCERS TO SELL FOR CASH j Beginning January 1 'Cash and Carry' : Plan Will Go Into Effect in the Gate City. Special lo The Tribune. POCATELLO, Idaho, Dec. 15? At a joint conference of the retail and whole sale grocers of this city held yesterday afternoon resolutions were unanimously passed in favor of adopting the "cash and cany' plan and to co-operate to the fullest possible extent in other respects with the federal food administration of this slate. The meeting was addressed by Food Administrator R. F. Ricknell, who emphasized em-phasized the fact that by eliminating delivery de-livery service thousands of men could be released for more Important work. J. T. Young, representing the wholesale grocers, informed the meeting that the wholesalers have been notified by the United States food administration that they will be expected to sell for cash only, and that tin's plan will be put into effect, ef-fect, commencing January 1. Retailers also will go on a strictly cash basis, commencing the same date. Owing to the fact that Point ello is largely a railroad town and that the 2000 employees em-ployees of the Oregon Short Dine are paid from month lo month, it was thought by some that to sell for cash only might work considerable hardship in numerous instances. In order that this objection may be overcome, it is probable that the Short Line officials will be asked to arrange to pay all employees at least twice a month during the continuance of the war, and it is believed that such a -request will undoubtedly be complied with. |
