Such is the announcement made last night by W, W. Armstrong, federal fuol and food administrator for Utah in response to an inquiry from officials offi-cials of tlm Utnh Power & Lnht company, com-pany, which furnishes tho current for ail electric lighting in Utah. In view of the fact, however, that not a pound of cool is used by the Utah Power & Light company in producing its current, it is not believed that tho " ligations nights" order is intended to j apply to it or to other plants that are operated solely by water power. It is pointed out that nothing would be conserved by turning out signs and lights supplied with current from hydroelectric hydro-electric plants, hence Mr. Armstrong .-dated last night that, tho order would not be put into effect here until he "n fully advised on this point from Washington and tho public need pay no attention to the order relative to light-less light-less nights until further notice from him. Government Orders. The order from the federal fuel administrator, ad-ministrator, in fulj, is as follows: ' The order of the fuel administrator administra-tor taking effect December 15 cancels the present order regulating the time advertising signs shall be lighted. In its place all signs of every kind, in-tbidnifT in-tbidnifT merchants signs, theater signs, also display lighting on buildings and elsewhere, "hotel signs and advertising igns, are ordered discontinued completely com-pletely on Thursday and Sunday nights of each week. "On these same nights stores not 1 1 pen for business must not show in--ido lights more than necessary for tifety; and municipalities with cluster lights or extra bright lighting for 'white way' effect must reduce on Thursday nd Sunday nights to only o much lighting as is necessary for safety. These nights will be called 'lightless nights' and we wish your lo-i-al papers to urge householders to observe ob-serve these nights with as few lights in homes as possible.
