GRAND JURY PROBE HINTED AT BINGHAM Repeated rumor that the machinery was being oiled for a grand jury investigation inves-tigation into alleged vice conditions at Bingham could not .be confirmed yesterday. yester-day. County Attorney Richard Hartley admitted that some things in connection with alleged gambling in Bingham are under investigation and that complaint of conditions in the camp had reached him. He explained, however, that the instigation ot a grand jury investigation would be outside the province of his office, the authority for such action being be-ing vested in the district attorney. District Attorney Wilson McCarthy could not be induced to make any comment com-ment on the question as to whether any action such as rumored is in contemplation. con-templation. Mayor F- T. Straupof Bingham said last night that any investigation that the county or state authorities chose to j make of conditions in Bingham .would j be welcomed by the town authorities. "The records of the town board are1 open for inspection to any citizen or any county or state official," the mayor added.
