Show HIGHLAND BOY FOLK APPEAL FOR DEPUTY Say Foreigners in Camp Are Eeckless in Display and Use of Small Arms. In a petition signed by seventeen American residents at Highland Boy, in Bingham canyon, the board of county commissioners was requested yesterday morning to provide a deputy sheriff for the camp because of the gun-carrying practices of foreigners in the camp. The petitioners set forth that it is a common practice for the foreigners to carry pistols and to discharge them promiscuously at all times of the day and night. When there is need for a peace officer, of-ficer, the petitioners explain, it is necessary neces-sary to call for a deputy from Bingham, a mile down the canyon. The matter was referred to the county coun-ty attorney and the sheriff, the purpose being to devise some means of relief from the condition by forcing the discontinuance dis-continuance of gun-carrying, it possible. |
