Tho water has been cased off, it is announced, an-nounced, and the Atkinson drill now is biting into the Wall creek cap-rock. lad this well developed water in the Wall creek tho profitable area of the li'ig Muddy district would have been demonstrated to be much nanower than is hoped. brought in a new shallow well in the iig Muddy field, penetrating the Shannon Shan-non nand ut about 900 feet. The well's capacity is estimated at sixty barrels a (lay. An eighteen-bour test of the flow of oil from the deenost well of tho Elk-horn Elk-horn company in too Big Muddy field measured 12.5 barrels. With an overflow over-flow of this volume as tho basis for cumulation it ia estimated that the well will pump 500 barrels daily. A movement has been launched contemplating con-templating tho sinking of a deep well in the streot iu front of tho Midwest hotol at Casper, in an attempt to demonstrate dem-onstrate that Casper is not merely the hub of ft surrounding group of oil fields, but is in fact built in an oli field. The extension of drilling operations in the Big Muddy field, which lies sixteen miles east of Casper, within a few weeks will have brought activity to within four miles of the town. E. ,1. Carliq held a lease on the southwest south-west one-quarter of the section and Hurst a lease on the east one-half of the section, tho latter being the lease for which the state, which owns the section, was paid a bonus of $105,000. Tho Pavillion Butte Oil company, capital cap-ital stock $23,000. has been chaptered by the state. The company will operate op-erate in the Riverton district.
