Show BLEAKLEY MAY GO TO WASHINGTON AND BE SWORN IN ERIE, Pa., March 30. Orrin T. Bleakley, Bepublican congressman-elect, tonight' entered a plea of nolle contendre in the United States district court here to an indictment charging him with expending ex-pending more than the legal maximum of $5000 to promote his election last November. Sentence was deferred until un-til April 5 and Mr. Bleakley was released re-leased upon his owd recognizance. No statement was made by Mr. Bleakley Bleak-ley with regard to his seat in congress or as to whether he would attend the opening session on Monday. WASHINGTON, March 30. Republican Republi-can leaders here were not advised tonight to-night as to whether Kepresentative Bleaklev would be here Monday to attend at-tend the opening of the extra session of congress. Informally it was said that if the Pennsylvania representative did come, there would be nothing to prevent pre-vent him from participating in the organization or-ganization in the house. He holds a certificate of election, and any action which mav follow his failure to make a defense" against the indictment for violating election laws, must come after the house is organized. |
