Show THE DIARY OF A SIREN CLARA'S WITCHING WAY By RING W. LAEDNER. JAN. 17. WELL diary its getting something some-thing awful around the office and I dont know how it will all end. Between Mr. Gold ajtd Joe Klein and Morrie Holler I dont have a minute's peace and if I talk to one of them or even smile at them the others look daggers at me and whomever one I was sniile-ing sniile-ing at. This A. M. I wa.s talking to Joe and ilr. Gold came out of his private pri-vate office and seen us and called me in to take a letter but he did not have no letter to give me but all he wanted was for me to quit ( talking to Joe because when I got ' in there and sat down oposite of him he did not dictate no fetter but just said, "Klein's got lots of work to do and when your talking to him all the time he cant do it. "Can I help if he likes to talk to me," I said. "I don't know nothing noth-ing about that," said Mr. Gold. "Bnt as long as I am Manager here I am going to try atid get people ill 1111 was elope to breaking down rtJid he turned, away his face suid. went ou'. to earn there money." Well diary he did not fool mo a bit with that kind of talk and the reason he called me in was because he could not bear to see me talking to anybody any-body else but he. J wish you could of seen the look iu his eyes diary and in another minute he would of came right out and said .CuiPthicr about hia feelings towards me only i for a man comeing in and wanted to see him on business. WELL diary when I went bak to my desk Joe was talking to some performer but I had not hardly set down when Morrie came over to my desk and the way he looked at me 'made me feql sorry for him. Morrie is a genius and no music writer in the TJ. S. turns out as many hit melodys as he but like all geniuses he is erratical and I would not be supprised if he flew off the handle some dav and done a mischief to either Mr. Gold or Joe in a fit of jeahissy. When Joe was thro with the performer he was talking to he come back to my desk anil Morrie right away got up and left and I know he was afraid he would lose control on himself and probly do Joe a mischief and just then "Mr. Gold come out of his office of-fice with his hat and coat on to go to lunch and seen Joe and I talking together ain and he turned positively posi-tively green nnd the look ho give Joe was" terrible. Where will it all end diary nnd why did nature give me this power to break men "s hearts T who would not willfully harm nobody no-body not even the least of his creatures. crea-tures. JAN. 10. Joe Klein was hanging around my desk when I come out ftud giveing him my kindest smile to cheer him up first I told him about me resigning. "I will leave you to guess why Joe." I said. "If you have any trouble landing or if you run shy of the old kale yoti know my number. ' ' Ho was elose to breaking down and he turned away his race and went out. Morrie Heller is out of town and will not know I am gone till he comes back Fri. and sees another f;ue at my desk for I will not come hack tomorrow or stay the 2 weeks lsv. Gold wonted rue to stay. It would do nobody no good. JAN. 21. DIAKV what fouls men are. Sarah called me up this A. M. to toll me Morrie was back in town and was married. Somebody must of told him how hopeless was his chances with, me and in a fit of despair he has wed another. My conscious has drove me nearly wild pvrr since Sarah called up. And yet how can : accuse myself with the blame. 1 only hope Joe Klein will not do a ny t h i up ra ?h a n d I Ihink I wil call him up tonight to let him know I am still uis friend though my feelings is no deeper.
