Show INCREASE OF WATER USED IN CITY SHOWN j Superintendent Barrett Says That, Aside j From Dry Season, There Were Several j Causes for Big Consumption. j The increase of water consumption by Salt Lake in the year 1915 over 1914 was 9.7 per cent, according to C. F. Barrett, superintendent of the water- j works department. This was due, said Mr. Barrett, to the fact that the season was drv and partly to the supplying of Forest JOale and Farmers' ward throughout through-out the 3'ear, rather than for but six months, as in the previous year. Mr. Barett points out the interesting fact that the heaviest call for water comes in dry seasons, when, because of the dryness of the climate, there is less to be had from the usual sources. For instance, Salt Lake actually used more water last year by 2,01)0,000 gallons a day than it did the year before, when there was no scarcity. Other increases shown by figures compile com-pile br Mr. Barrett were 7 per cent in the number of fire hydrants, 4 per cent in the service, ,4.8 per cent in the water mains and 73 per cent in the number of meters installed. |
