Show HURRICANE TO HAVE GOOD WATER SUPPLY Citizens - Decide' to Call Election to Vote on Issuance of Bonds Amounting to $20,000., Analysis made by the state chemist for the state health department, showing show-ing that water of proper quality may be obtained i'rom springs in the vicinity of Hurricane, Washington county, to give the town an adequate and safe water supply, the people of the town have decided to call a bond election for the issuance of $20,000 in bonds to construct con-struct a system. Such is the information received by Dr. T. B. Beatty, secretary of the state board of health. Although the town has but 650 population and the limit of its bonded indebtedness is $20,000, it has decided to go the limit to provide the town with a safe water supply, the doctor states. The town has been getting its supply sup-ply from ditches and wells, and in the past has suffered from severe epidemics of typhoid fever. About a year ago it had an epidemic in which more than 25 per cent of the people had the fever. The water will have to be piped several sev-eral miles, but the town has decided that it will have spring water at any cost. |
