Show CRIPPLE TAKEN FOR BREAKING WINDOW Clarence Hendrickson Caught While Hurling Missiles Through Glass on West Temple Street. Clarence Hendrickson, 23 years of age, with both legs cut off .just below the liips, was arrested bv Patrolmen 0. L. Miner and J. G. Smith last night after lie is alleged to have smashed about $100 worth of glass at a second-hand store at 167 South West Temple street, lie was booked on a charge of destroying destroy-ing property and, according to the ofti-c.ers, ofti-c.ers, he committed the damage to break into jail for the winter. The officers were standing about a block distant from the scene when they heard the crash of falling glass. They rau to the place with visions of capturing cap-turing a burglar red-handed. As they neared the store a bucket tore through tho glass and nearly hit them. Investigation proved that the cripple had left his wheel chair at the back of the premises and that be had broken a rear door. He is then alleged to have entered the store and to have broken all the windows in the rear. Satisfied with the shattering of all the glass he could see there, he proceeded to the front of tho store, where he hurled buckets, shoes and other objects through the front window. Hendrickson was bundled into his chair by the officers and was taken in the. patrol wagon to police headquarters. headquar-ters. He will explain his actions to Judge E. A. Kogers in the police court today. |
