Show UTAH MAKES PROFIT BY BOYS AHD GIRLS Poultry Clubs Lead in Making Mak-ing Money, According to College Report. Utah received a not profit of .62,-218 .62,-218 from the work of the bo.vs' and Rirls' clubs during the last club season, according to a report of the work just compiled by Professor J. C. Hogenson of the extension division of the Utah Agricultural college and state leader in junior vocational education. This represents rep-resents the profit actually derived by the boys and girls in their club work, after all espouses, including the supervision super-vision cost of the work, organization expenses and the production cost have been deducted. Tne total value of oil club projects amounted to $ll)B,u"U7.-t7. In all, fourteen projects were undertaken. under-taken. These included the following clubs: I'otato, homo gardens, canning, poultry, . flower gardening, pork and crop, 'bread making, garment making, handicraft, table service, model kitchen, kitch-en, cow testing and better seed. Of these various clubs the most popular was the poultry club. Twenty clubs were organized throughout Utah, with a total enrollment of 59"). A total income in-come of $o'373. 82 wa received and a total net profit of $4311.S0 made. The home garden clubs proved the most profitable. With nine clubs, in which were enrolled 484 club members, a total to-tal income of $22,297 was received and a net profit of $14,53S made. By the bovs in the potato clubs an average vield of 4K)',L. bushels was received. The average cost per acre was $54.62, while the net profit per acre was $34 8.05. Throughout the state there were 133 clubs organized, with a total enrollment of 304S. Of these members 2.501 completed com-pleted all of their work. Nearly 1000 of these members were new, while twen. tv-six of the clubs were new. "During the year forty-two eanning demonstrations" w ere held, with a total attendance of 12.117. Fifty-ope field demonstrations were given, thirtv-tivo fairs and exhibits were held and thirty-seven thirty-seven training schools for leaders were conducted. |
