Show STRICT REGULATION APPLIES TO SCABIES Federal Department of Agriculture Makes Move Looking to Eradication Eradica-tion of Disease Among Sheep. A recent decision of the United States department of agriculture gives to the federal sheep inspectors of the local branch of the United States animal industry in-dustry bureau enlarged powers in compelling' com-pelling' the eradication of sheep scabies, regardless of whether or not the sheep are golag on the forest reserve or are being; offered for interstate movement. This decision will be far-reaching in its effect. Sheep found infected with the scabies which have been exposed thereto on the open range or while being driven over public highways are subiect to the strict federal regulations, this is for the reason that they mav Inter come in contact with the sheep that are going cm the forest reserve or are to be moved interstate. A number of deaths among Bheep have occurred this spring in the Salt Lake valley from grease wood poisoning, poison-ing, according to the local office. Deaths from this source are considerably heavier than thought to be by the sheepmen. sheep-men. The only possible way, the department de-partment says, to prevent tnis trouble is to keep the sheep away from the plant. |
