Show j FOUR STAKES HOLD ! MUTUAL CONTESTS Boy Scouts and Beehiv Girls Give Splendid Exhibitions; Winners Will Enter Finals Hero. .Special to The Tribune. LOGAN", April 29. The four stakes of Car-be, Boneon, Hyrum and Oneida; forming a district of the Mormon church, competed here today in the special spe-cial activity work of the Mutual Improvement Im-provement associations, and in addition the Boy Scouts and Beehive Girls pave demonstrations of their work that were the most elaborate and thorough of any evnr jivfiii in Utah. Tin; hoys h'avo a demonstration of first aid to the injured, wall-scaling, hridgv-buildiug and a great many other things, while the girls danced, did camp work and cooking, and showed their skill in horsemanship. In the horsemanship content a Miss Dunidey of Oneida stake and Miss -Margaret 1 unison of the same stake were winners, saddling, bridling and mounting mount-ing their unimals in forty-five and forty-six forty-six seconds, respectively. In tho scout pace race the Benson srnke entrants, both boys and girls, won. Thev made the mile within four seconds of the regulation twelve minutes, beating beat-ing the Cache stake by one second. In the stake tabernacle tho contest in snoeial mutual work were held and resulted as follows: Ladies' quartette, Oneida won; senior public speaking, Oneida won; male quartette, Cache won; retold story, Benson won; boys' chorus, Cache won; girls' chorus, Benson woa. These winners will compete in tho grand finals in Salt Lake City in June. |
