U" USUALLY promising dramatic ability was shown during the past week by a number of students stu-dents in tho Salt Lake high schools, in connection with pageants held Friday to commemorate the three hundredth anniversary of the death of Shakespeare. Several" sketches from the most popular Shakespearian plays, as well as reproductions in costume of famous fa-mous Shakespearian players, were given artistically and accurately. The pageant at the West high school was held on the campus during the afternoon, aft-ernoon, while the one at the East school was gicen in the big auditorium in the evening. Large audiences . witnessed both and were both delighted and interested. inter-ested. Photographs of some scenes in connection with the productions are given herewith Not the least interesting feature of the programmes was the music. School mtfsieiaus and school vocalists did splendidly splen-didly in this part of the work. The high school orchestra rendered musical numbers num-bers at the east side pageant in the evening. One unusually pretty number given at the east side pageant was a series of characterizations of children of Shakespeare Shake-speare by pupils of the -junior high school. "Scenes from ten of the best of Shakespeare's piays were the strongest strong-est uumbors on the west side programme. |
