Show CHESTER Will BE. I!G C1QITES Sevier County Man Will Seek Republican Nomination Nomina-tion for Congress. Judge John F. Chidester of Sevier county, member of the .state land board and prominent in the Republican party for many years, has announced his candidacy can-didacy for the Republican nomination for attorney general. For some time his friends have been urging him to enter the race, and feel that his wide acquaintance and popularity will enhance en-hance the strength of the state ticket. Judge Chidester was born in Spanish Fork in IS53. lu I860 he moved with his parents to Washington county, where he grew to manhood. In 1880 he was clectod city attorney of Washington Wash-ington City, in the county of that name. He removed to Garfield iu 18S5, and was elected county attorney. As a member of the state constitutional constitu-tional convention, Judge Chidester was the chairman of the committee on elections elec-tions and the rights of suffrage. Worn-' Worn-' an 's suffrage was one of the planks of the Republican platform of that campaign, cam-paign, and, true to the platform, Judge j Chidester worked zealously in the con-j con-j vention for suffrage, and won. Judge Chidester was also a member j of the first state senate, and worked , I in that body on the first revenue law 1 for the state. Subsequently he was I elected district" attorney of "the Sixth j judicial district, comprising Sevier, : Piute, Garfield, Wayne and Kane counties. coun-ties. After six years in that office he ; was appointed judge of the district I court, to succeed Judge W. M. McCarthy, McCar-thy, who had been elected to the su-j su-j preme bench.
