Show Commercial Club Eager to Assist As-sist in Bringing Industries to Utah. DECIDES BV RESOLUTION TO INDORSE HOME PRODUCTS First Essential of Community's Continued Progress Is Pay-Roll Pay-Roll Builders. Attention was given tlie need of factories fac-tories In discussions in a meeting of the new industries committee of the Commercial Commer-cial club at a mooting held Wednesday afternoon. Realizing that tho great need in Salt Lake and Utah at tho present time is more industries which will give employment to workmen, tho commlttco stands ready to indorse any movement looking to tho building up of tho state through Increased pay rolls. Other recommendations rec-ommendations passed hy the committee follow: "Wo' recommend the passing of the bill which is now before the state legislature for an appropriation which will help sustain sus-tain the Industrial exhibit of Utah ru-sourccs ru-sourccs now being exhibited in the Vermont Ver-mont hulldlng. "We recommend that the Commercial club take tho lead in encouraging tho uso of all Utah made goods by giving the preference to home articles whenever the quality is equal to the imported goods by using them In every department of the Commercial club. "We recommend In the publicity work of. the Commercial club that a special effort ef-fort be made to build up tho manufacturing manufactur-ing industry of tills city and state for there are many factories which would locate lo-cate hero provided they could get a strong support from tho business men and the commercial organizations. "Other cities and states are making overy effort to secure pay roll builders and unless we encourage in every possible possi-ble way the building of new Industries In this city and state there is no doubt but what they will go to other places who will gho them not only their encouragement, encourage-ment, but also their strong support." 13. Kinney proprietor of a broom fac-try fac-try at 9!S Windsor street, received the consideration of the committee. It seems that Kinney established a factory In Salt Lake several months ago. Investing about $10,000 In porpcrty, stock and machinery. machin-ery. Ho lias been considering closing the plant down on account of his Inability to get orders from local merchants. The matter was taken to the new Industries committee. Mr. Kinney was given tlie assurance as-surance that the committee will do all within its power to divert trade to his plant In preference to out-of-state products. prod-ucts. Several members of the committee placed orders for brooms with Mr. Kinney Kin-ney Wednesday at the meeting. A sub-committee appointed last week to look into the proposition of locating a plant in Salt Lake to make road graders reported favorably upon the proposition. Further action will be taken when Alvin O. Powers submits a model of the machine ma-chine to the committee. It was expected that a report from Theodoro W. Whltely.' Joseph E. Gallic and J. C. J,eary appointed to Investigate the packing plant industry would be made and discussed. The matter will come up at an early meeting when the sub-committee will be able to make a full report. re-port.
