Show THIEVES TIE LOAD OF EXPBESSPARGELS Bold Robbery at Jersey City; Express Car Looted at . Huntington, Ore. NEW YORK, March 1. A big squad of Now York detectives Is searching today to-day for a wagonload of express parcels which disappeared on tho way to a Jersey City terminal late yesterday. Tho wagon, piled high with packages, contained more than 510,000 -worth of goods destined for various western points. The wagon left the express dopot lato In tho afternoon and five hours later was picked up empty and drlvcrless at a slreot comer several miles away. Tho express company believes that tho driver was the victim of foul play. CHICAGO, March 1. Detectives of the Krlo railroad and the Wells-Fargo Express Ex-press company are searching for three thieves who broke Into a westbound express ex-press car at Huntington yesterday and threw off hundreds of dollars' worth of silks that were on their way to tho Pa-ciilc Pa-ciilc coast. The contents of the car are said to have been worth $50,000. Every package was opened and much of the silk that was not thrown oft was damaged by the thieves' muddy fcot. This is the third robbery of the kind on the Erie road between Huntington and Chicago recently. |
