Mulvey and Lester D Freed. Mr. Warde was one of the organisers of the Salt Lake lodgo of Elks. Ho was present a. Introduced Mr. Warde at the meeting of the Elks Wednesday night, and the distinguished visitor was given a great ovation. Is Old-Timc Elk. Mr. Warde is a member of New York lod-ic No. 1 of the Benevolent and Protective Order or Elks, and Is one of the oldest members of the order in tho United suites. For years he has taken an active part In the organization and perpetuation of lodges of Elks throughout through-out the United States. In speaking to tlie Elks Wednesday night Mr. Warde recalled the early struggles strug-gles of the Salt Lake lodgo and congratulated con-gratulated Its members on tho splendid progress of the order. Ho spoke feelingly of his personal friendship for a great number of tlie members of the Salt Lake lodge and of the high regard which he had for oil the members of the local lodge. At the annual election of officers Dr. Salathlcl Ewlng was chosen exalted ruler for tho coming year. He succeeds W o. Romney. tlie present exalted ruler. Dr. Ewlng has been a prominent. Elk for vears. He has been esteemed loyal knight and esteemed leading knight of the lodge. D. W. Oibbs, tlie present esteemed es-teemed lecturing knight of the lodge, was elected to succeed Dr. Ewing as esteemed leading knight. W. II. Nightingale succeeds suc-ceeds V. A. Bcttliyon as esteemed loyal knight. Walter Schmircr was chosen to succeed Mr. Glbbs as esteemed lecturing knight. , , For secretary of tho lodge V . F. Cul-mer. Cul-mer. the present esquire, was elected to succeed A. W. Raybould. This is the first change in tlie office of secretary since the organization of the lodge In Salt Lake. Mr. Raybould having held the position for seventeen years. P. II. Hopkins Hop-kins was elected treasurer, succeeding B. F. Redman. S. J. Swyers was elected tvler and S. C. Shorrill. trustee. . G. Romney was chosen to represent Salt Lake lodge at the grand lodge session to bo held in Atlantic City next July and Col. C. L. Applcgate as alternate to the grand lodge session. The new officers of the lodge will he installed at tho first meeting In April. |
