Show UTAH'S PART II THE NATIONAL ELECTION Machinery Has Been Set in Motion Mo-tion by Elilni Root, Sccre- j tary of State. William Howard Taft hasn't roally and truly been elected president of these United States yet, as many thousands thou-sands of people may suppose, but tho machinery has been set in motion by which tho perfunctory formalities of ! his election may be consummated. Governor John C. Cutler, Saturday, received a communication from Elihu j Root of Washington, D. C. national i secretary of stato, which sot tho machinery ma-chinery in motion for the castinc of J the electoral voto of Utah for Mr. Taft, j in accordance with tho desires of tho j peoplo of this great commonwealth, aa expressed at tho general election November No-vember 3. Secretary of Stato Charles S. Tingoy will personally certify to tho Republican Repub-lican presidential electors, Honry Cohn, Lafayette Ilolbrook and Thomas Sevj', tho votes cast in Utah for each presi- dential candidate. Then Mr. Tingey must certif3' to Governor Cutlor the en-tiro en-tiro electoral voto, copios of which tho governor will transmit to Sccrotary Root and each of tho chosen electors. This must bo done before the Saturday Satur-day preceding tho second Monday in January tho electors from Utah will meet in Sccrotary Tincey's offico and cast their S? votes for Mr. Taft, also James Schoolcraft Sherman, vice-president. Then ono of tho electors will bo dosignatcd to deliver tho olectoral vote of Utah to tho olectoral colloce at Washincton, D. C. Whon this body meets, canvasses tho voto and formally announces the result, then a president and 'a vice-president will havo been really and truly elected. |
