Iloggan of this city, who has tho contract of enlarging twenty miles of canal In Sevier county for the state, returned to Richfield Monday Mon-day last, having spent Thanksgiving here. Mr. Iloggan has sublet about fourteen miles of his contract and reports the work to be forging ahead at a rapid pace. Mantl hns been without electric lighting light-ing this week, caused by a breakage In the ditch which convoys water to tho powor plant In the canyon. As the plant Is run entirely by wator, an accldenT of this kind means darkness for the city until un-til it can be repaired. Tho break in the ditch occurred at a point on a steep aido-li aido-li III. where there projects out over the ditch a large boulder, weighing thousands of .tons. In order to repair the ditch at this point It became necessary to blast this boulder out of place, which has taken the entire week, with all tho men put to work on the job that could bo utilized. Marshal Blssey was called on Wednesday Wednes-day last to arrest two hobos, who wcro creating a disturbance at tho Rio Grande Western depot, but the "weary willies" refused to ho arrested and put up a scrap. One of them attempted to hit the marshal with a cano which he had, but was mot 4 w with a blow on tho head from the ' tJjft knuckled list of the marshal, whtc m him out oh the platform.
