Show FIFTY SEAMEN LOST . . IN RECENT STORMS HALIFAX, Dec. 5. More than fifty seamcu have lost their lives off the upper up-per North Atlantic coast during the past few days as the result of a storm of unprecedented severit3r. The reckoning, reckon-ing, itemized as accurately as the meager mea-ger reports will allow, follows: December 3 Seventeen members of the crews of three fishing schooners drowned off the Newfoundland coast. December 4 Twenty-eight members of the crew of the steamer Soo City, which is believed to have sunk in the Gulf of St. Lawrence December 5 Seven members of the crew of barge No. 101, which went down off the coast of Nova Scotia. |
