What proved to be an exciting finish to tho introductory programme pro-gramme of tho cycling events, heralding the annual six-day raco 3t Madison Square Garden, wound up disappointingly disappoint-ingly tonight. Bobby 'althour of Atlanta, Ga., America Amer-ica 's best pace-follower, was matched for a ten-mile motor-paced raco against Albert Wills, who holds tho world's ono-hour paced record of 61 miles 976 yards. Tno event, which was expected to bo hotly contested, was won easily bv Wills, The race had to bo started twice, as Waltbour bad a flat tire after they had gone throe-.quarters of a mile. This cnused a delay of twenty minutes. min-utes. When tho race started afrosh, Waltbour was ponalized fifteen yards. When they had gone four miles and eight laps Walthour lost his pace and could never make up the handicap. Tho littlo Englishman finished in easy fashion fash-ion twelve laps ahead. All of the men who aro to take part in tho six-day race were seen in tho ten-uiilo contest for professionals, which was won by Floyd jMacFarland of San Jose, Cal.. who was about seven yards ahead of Eddie Root of Brooklyn, tho winner of the six-day garden.
