Show i La LogIio First leel -i The newly organized Boun-I Boun-I tiful group of La Leche I League wiU-hold- its- first-I first-I 1 meeting on Tuesday, May 18 I I at 7 p.m., at the home of Araina Thorsness, 295-4059. THE NAME, La Leche, is I Spanish and means "the milk". A non-sectarian, nonprofit non-profit organization, the League's purpose is to help encourage "good mothering through breastfeeding." The group will meet the third Tuesday of each month. A series of four meetings will : discuss, informally, different phases of breastfeeding. Topic for first meeting : Advantages Ad-vantages of breastfeeding to mother and child. Discussion leader will be Araina Thorsness. Thors-ness. ALL WOMEN who are interested in nursing their babies are invited ... as are their babies. You need not be pregnant or even have a family to attend. If you are a wife and hope some day to have children, if you are a grandmother, if you are interested . . . you are welcome. wel-come. La Leche League began in Chicago suburb nearly twenty years ago, when one mother who had successfully nursed her baby, helped another who wanted to breastfeed. THIS IS still the basic approach, although the League is now international in scope, with more than 2,000 groups helping thousands of women in the United States, Canada, and over thirty foreign countries.
