Show iiUGP lPailGP3 .Dgfg f Friday May 14 will see an influx of silver travel trailers into town from many directions. direc-tions. They will be rallying at the Bountiful City Park for their monthly get together. IT IS expected between 25 and 35 trailers will be in attendance at-tendance from many parts of the slate. During their 3 day stay the members will enjoy a potluck dinner at which time Mayor Swapp has been invited invit-ed to speak. Wally Byam developed the silver travel trailers all members now use, in the 1930's. In the 1950's he organized or-ganized caravans of these trailers and traveled into Central America, Canada, Alaska, and later through Africa, Europe and one that traveled around the world in 1962-63. These caravans continue con-tinue to be enjoyed today. THE WALLY Byam club came into being in 1955 when members of Wally's caravan decided to organize for social activities, such rallies and dinners in picturesque parts of the country. Today the Utah club consists con-sists of 110 trailers, and the International club consists of over 26000 trailers, with members from all walks of life. About half of the members are retired. THUS THE people you see wearing the blue beret and a smile, and towing silver travel trailers with large red club numbers on the front and back, are members of the Wally Byam club. You can be assured they will always leave an area they use, cleaner than they found it, and that they are safety conscious and considerate, especially when on the highways. high-ways. THIS IS part of the Wally ; Byam code of ethics, which every member subscribes to. |
