Lots of activities scheduled for this summer, and enjoyment included for the young people of our city. Two new faces will be part of the recreation staff, both local gals with lots of enthusiasm for their summer work. Paula Lowe, daughter of Jay and Pauline Lowe is the new assistant recreation director. She is a student at BYU and is majoring in Recreation at that school. Kathy Howard, daughter of President and Mrs. Hatch Howard, will also assist. She will graduate next week from Viewmont and plans to attend BYU in August to begin her education in Special Education Educa-tion A huge thanks is expressed to our help for the past few seasons in this same capacity. Jamie Deneris, who spent all summer long enjoying the activities ac-tivities of our young people, can be seen guiding tours through the State Capitol. She is a junior at the U of U and still makes her home with parents, Andy and Phyllis Deneris in Cahoon Acres. Jill Johansen Bishop has taken up the duties of homemaker this year. A sincere sin-cere thanks is also expressed to Jill for her tireless enthusiasm with baton and drill activities, and the parades which always had a group of Woodscrossettes as participants under her direction. direc-tion. She is married to Brent Bishop and now makes her home in Salt Lake City. She is the daughter of Al and Dottie Johansen. These young ladies will be missed, but good wishes are sent their way from a host of appreciative youngsters and co-workers. One of the most important items of interest is the mass meetings. Three young ladies from our community are members of the Viewmont Madrigals who will perform their final concert con-cert on Friday at 8 p.m. JoAnn Eakle, Jana Satchwell and Annette Allred have participated par-ticipated in the 75 community presentations this year, along with fellow singers. The group is one of the outstanding organizations or-ganizations at Viewmont. Family and friends were at the Salt Lake City airport on Tuesday evening to greet Richard Westergard as he arrived home following completion of an LDS mission to France-Belgium. Richard is the son of Bishop and Mrs. Wayne Westergard. He enjoyed visiting with Elder Marty Anderson in Burmingham, England on his return trip home. Elder Westergard Wes-tergard spent 15 months in the Brussels area of Belgium, and the remaining time in France. He is enjoying the reacquain-tance reacquain-tance of friends and neighbors at present and time with his family. |
