Among women it is as common as eyebrows. Congratulations to young Mark Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Davis, who will be a cheerleader next year at Viewmont High School. Rex Steadman has returned from a two week business trip to Dayton, Ohio. Jerry and Olivia King have moved to Bountiful, where they will be living at least for a time. Welcome to the new family who has bought the home formerly occupied by the Kings. Lynn Carlson, son of Bishop Robert W. and Marilyn Carlson Carl-son has received a call to the Homberg, Germany Mission. On May 10 the Centerville Lady Republicans held a meeting at the Cedar Springs Club House. The meeting featured fea-tured a report on some national na-tional legislative issues by Mrs. Mary Ann Nelson, followed by a very informative informa-tive session with James V. Hansen, of Farmington, who -- is the State Legislative Representative. Mothers Day was such a beautiful day, and many mothers were enjoying visits with families in Centerville. Among those visiting was Mrs. Greenfield, from Washington, visiting with her son Wally, his wife, Mada and their family. Other visitors were Harold and Melba Baker of Paradise, Utah. They are the parents of Marlene Seegmiller and they arrived at their daughter's home on Friday, May 7, in time to attend the recital of the Seegmiller's daughter, Patrice, Pa-trice, who sings and "accompanies "accom-panies herself on the guitar. She is the pupil of Loris Hand, Salt Lake City. The Fugate family, Sidney and Francis, with children, Scott, Kendall and Jennifer, have moved to Idaho to make their home. The family home evening group of Lydia Kilpack en joyed a barbeque in the back yard of her home on Monday, May 10. Kraig Dee Stevensen, son of Kenneth and Barbara Steven-sen Steven-sen will be married Friday, May 21 to Joanne Dyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil I. Dyer of Boise, Ida. , The couple will be married in the Salt Lake Temple. An Open House will be held in the evening at the home of the bridegroom's parents in Centerville.- . A reception honoring the . newlyweds will be held in the afternoon of Saturday, May . 29. in Boise, Ida. . On Wednesday "evening, May 5, a meeting was held at the home of Gordon and Noreen Wilson, where the speaker was Jack Carlson, Assistant Secretary of. the Interior for Energy and Minerals: . Mr. Carlson is a cousin of Gordon. Wilsons and is seeking to become a U.S. Senator. The J. A. Taylor School presented their Bicentennial Presentation at Kearns High School on Thursday, May 6 to a very enthusiastic audience who arose and gave the young people a standing ovation. A special award and trophy was presented to them for their American Values School Program by the Utah Bar Association. Mrs. Esther Rockwood spent Mothers Day and the following Monday visiting with her son, Alyn and his family in Springville. It seems like a teen age measle epidemic is sweeping our community. Rodney and Joanne Jackson Jack-son attended the wedding in the Salt Lake Temple on Friday, May 7 of Rodney's nephew, Darnell Jackson, son of Mr. and Mrs. LaVard Jackson of Freedom, Wyo. to Miss Catherine Mote. On the evening of that day they drove to Freedom, Wyo. to attend a reception where the newlyweds greeted friends and relatives. Rodney and JoAnne Jackson Jack-son and their children spent Mothers Day with JoAnne's parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Godfrey, in Blackfoot, Ida. Harold and Merle Parrish, accompanied by their son, Gary and Merle's mother, Lydia Kilpack, visited with Merle's sister, Doris Gull, her husband Rulon and their family over the weekend in Pocatello, Ida. On Friday evening, May 7, the High Priests of the 8th Ward and their wives enjoyed a delicious dinner and program in the Stake Center. Mrs. Ruth Parrish was in charge of the food, Margaret Ricks in charge of table decorating and Howard , Brown, master of ceremonies which consisted of com-. munity singing, led by John ' D. Parrish and accompanied by Grace Parrish, a reading by Marlene Seegmiller, a vocal solo by Pat Pedersen, who accompanied herself on the guitar, a vocal duet by Ruth and Dean Christensen and some humorous stories told by Martin Knutesen. Visiting with Donald and Lois Bensen recently were their son Marty and his wife, and their small daughter, Jennifer. Marty is in the service ser-vice and stationed at Colorado Springs, Colo. His wife and daughter are living in Heber. Cheri Bensen, daughter of Donald and Lois is home from attending school at Ricks College and is now busy working and taking a couple courses at the BYU summer extension school. Jeanette Davis, daughter of Marilyn and Gerald Davis is also home from school at Ricks College in Idaho. Carlos and Lorraine Wood have returned from an exciting excit-ing Mediterranian cruise. They were gone for 9 days, stopping at the Shannon Airport Air-port in Ireland before going on to France to start their cruise. They stopped to visit at five ports, France, Spain, Rome, Algiers, Africa, The Isle of Corsica and Monaco in Monte Carlo. It was a thrilling trip, but in Rome it was May Day, and a holiday with all the shops closed, and they happened to hit the other places just at Siesta time. |
