Show Recreation Classes In Woods Cross Ready To Register The summer recreation program for Woods Cross City is complete, with registrations registra-tions to be held for all activities activi-ties except Arts and Crafts, on May 17 and 18 from 3- p.m. each day, at City Hall Council chambers. THE SUMMER schedule will begin June 7 and run through the first week of August. On Monday's boys tennis will begin at 7 a.m. and continue through 1 p.m. for beginners through advanced players. These classes will be taught by Karen Koya. Women's tennis will begin June 7 at the Woods Cross High School courts at 8 a.m. and will be taught by Ruth Payne. Girls baton, flag twirling and drill will begin at 8 and continue throughout the day. Girls Softball practices will be held each Monday morning at the city park for elementary and jr. high leagues. TUESDAY morning brings girls Softball games for elementary leagues. Girls 9-12 are involved in this program, which includes teams from North Salt Lake, West Bountiful, Centerville and Farmington. The top two winners in this league will participate in the Davis County Tournament in August. Also on Tuesday is swimming swim-ming at Bountiful Indoor Pool. Cost is $10 per child and $8 for each additional child in the family. Bus transportation transporta-tion is included in the 10 week course. Modem dance instruction in-struction will continue through the afternoon, with Paula Lowe, instructor. WEDNESDAY begins with junior high league Softball for girls. At 10 a.m. competitive tennis will be held at Woods Cross Park courts, and additional addi-tional classes in dance and baton will continue into the afternoon. On Thursday, girls tennis begins at 7 a.m. at city park and concludes at 1 p.m. Archery for boys and girls, ages 10-15, will also be taught at the park. Equipment will be furnished. Arts and crafts will begin at 9 a.m. at the park bowery and continue through the afternoon. FRIDAY IS Junior Olympics Olym-pics activities for boys and girls ages 7-13. With skills taught in shuttle run, 50 yard dash, standing broad jump, baseball and Softball throw, obstacle course, one foot hop, and distance run. Arts and crafts will continue in morning morn-ing and afternoon sessions on Friday. To top off each event held in the city, a county tournament is scheduled. A county Junior Olympic Track and Field Meet is scheduled July 6, at Davis High School. A swimming swim-ming meet will be conducted in Clearfield in Mid-July and an Archery Tournament is scheduled for Layton. THE COUNTY tennis tournament tour-nament will be held the last week of July in Bountiful and Softball tournaments in conjunction con-junction with Davis County Fair will be held the last week of July and the first portion of August. Lagoon Recreation Day is also on the schedule of activities. The first week of August will be Woods Cross Week, with local tournaments held in all divisions. Also for the enjoyment of the young people are the parades held in surrounding communities which will have local youngsters young-sters from baton, drill, and flag twirling as participants. WOODS CROSS will also enter a float in both the Bountiful 24th celebration in addition to the Bicentennial Parade in conjunction with County Fair in late August. An item which might be of interest to golfers is the Junior Golf lessons to introduce in-troduce the young golfer to the game for his or her knowledge and practice for 10-12 year old boys and girls in group I, and 13-15 age group in Group II. THE COST is $6 per student and will be taught at Davis Park in Kaysville, Valley View in Layton or at the Bountiful Golf Course in Bountiful. Registration June 7 at the course of your choice is necessary for this clinic. Dates of lessons will be assigned as-signed at time of registration.
