Show Two local young men are members of Viewmont Tennis team, having completed a season of competitive play with teams from surrounding areas. Gordon Ballard and Bob Lund were in Ogden on Friday for the Region II tennis meet. Their coach is the former Woods Cross resident, Darrell Bailey. Local girls who were recently selected to be members of the Woods Cross High Drill Team are Shanna Cahoon, Carlin Lund and Cheryl Ostlund. America's favorite past-time, past-time, baseball, was enjoyed by masses of people at Woods Cross City park on Saturday, as the beginning of the season brought all teams together in a gigantic opener, the Little League competition. The weather was cooperative, and an enjoyable time was had by all. Mrs. Ruby Schwengles, mother of Mrs. Robert Matheson, left on Friday for her home in Chicago, III. after spending a month at the Matheson home. One of the highlights of her visit was a trip to the Moab area, for a live day excursion of that portion por-tion of the state. The Mathesons enjoy the out of doors, and have the opportunity oppor-tunity to share our state with numerous visitors from the mid-west. Diane Narramore, daughter of Keith and Anita Narramore, entered South Davis Hospital on Tuesday of the past week in preparation for major surgery on Wednes day. She has been released and is recovering nicely at home. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Ken-nington Ken-nington were hosts on Saturday Satur-day evening, as friends and neighbors arrived to visit with Quinn Felix prior to his departure for an LDS Mission to Virginia. Quinn is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Felix. His mother has just been released from the South Davis Hospital after a four week stay where she was treated for pneumonia and related illnesses. Bishop and Mrs. Vern Salter traveled to Cedar City to spend several days visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Darby and family, this past week. Youngsters from South Bountiful 4th Ward area, spent Tuesday evening at City Park, performing one of their community projects. This event brought buckets of paint and brushes to spruce up the bleachers near the ball diamond. In charge of the event was Brian Francis, and although not all the paint landed on the bleachers, a good time was had by all. Saturday evening. Young Adults from the area enjoyed a social, which concluded with mud football. In charge of flooding the field and planning events was Steve Titensor. Get well wishes are sent to Mrs. Belva Richardson, who underwent major surgery at LDS Hospital. She is the mother of Max Richardson and Mrs. Warren Had-denham. |
