The still-life portrait painting classes Mr. Hull will teach are among the varied activities being offered this summer quarter by the Art Center. : The Bountiful Art Center is pleased to announce that Gregory Hull will be teaching portrait painting and still life painting for the Center summer quarter. Greg's face is familiar to his many friends in Bountiful. ALTHOUGH HE was born in Oklahoma, he moved to Bountiful when he was one and eventually graduated from Bountiful High School. After receiving his BFA degree at the U of U in 1973, Greg studied and painted in Spain for a year. While there, he married, and now lives in Salt Lake City with his wife and baby. Greg is presently attending graduate school at the University, working toward a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing. GREG USES a realistic approach to his own painting and will use realism in his teaching, also. In his painting classes plans to emphasize "accuracy, helping his students to develop really strong skills in drawing. Greg enjoys teaching and has taught figure structure, figure painting, and life drawing classes at the University. Greg has received a great deal of recognition for his painting, including 2nd place award at the 1972 Utah State Fair, 1st place award in the Davis County Competition Show 1976, and purchase award at the 7th Intermoun-tain Intermoun-tain Biennial of Painting and Drawing at the Salt Lake Art Center in 1975. HE HAS exhibited at 11 1 Phillips Gallery, The Galeriz Quixote, Madrid, Spain, at the 34th Annual Exhibition of the Indiana Art Association, One-Man One-Man Show in McGorley's Restaurant, in Indiana, and the 52nd Annual National Art Exhibit at Springville, 1976. The Bountiful Art Center welcomes Greg to the staff. Pre-registration for summer quarter classes is now underway under-way at the Center. For information infor-mation on classes please contact con-tact the Center at 581-8820. THE MAXFIELD Parrish exhibit will oepn on Sunday, May 16, at the Center. The public is invited to an opening reception from 2 to 5 p.m. Tony Rasmussen, director, will give a gallery talk on Maxfield Parrish at 3 p.m., and the film, "Parrish Blue," will be shown at 4 p.m. The exhibit will continue through June 30th. In the continuing art films series, two films will be presented on Wednesday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m., at the Davis Complex, 197 E. 500 South. The films are: "Wa-tercolor "Wa-tercolor Painting: The Marine Scene with Herb 01-sen." 01-sen." and "Watercolor Painting: Paint-ing: Working from sketches with Louis J. Kaep." The films are free to the public. |
