Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Morley have returned re-turned to their home In Nevada, after a month's stay here as guests of Mrs: Morley's parents, IIr. and Mrs. H. P. Johnson. Word has been received by Mrs. J. W. Burkinshaw that her son, Ivon Hugnes, has arrived safely in France. A farewell partv was given to Wilford Wilson at the home of his -parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Wilson, on Center street, Sunday evening. The lawn was decorated deco-rated in red, white and blue. Mr. Wilson will leave in the near future to join the "United States forces. 1 BEAVER . l BEAVER. Since automobiles and the attendant good roads have conn' into their own, everything In the country towns is changing. chang-ing. New ideas not only pass through, but many are left In passing. The dilTicuWy of getting in and out is a thing of the past, and opportunities ; to travel are affoidi'd the country folk that never ' could' have been but for the automobile. A i steady stream of automobiles, many with loaded trailers for camping purposes, is passing dally. During the past week cans from New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Maine passed through here on the way to California. Mr. . and Mrs. Vernon R. Burke of Portland, Me., were two of a party which went through here Wednesday arternoon. Thoy had made the entire trip along the Lincoln highway and then the Arrowhead trail wlihout any trouble, making the trip from Fait Lake City to this place in a little less than eight hours. , Dr. Grace Stratton Airey of Salt Lake City was. one of a party which passed through here Monday on their way to Little Ziou canyon and St. George. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Hodges of Salt Lake City and Mrs. 0. F. McShano of this place left Saturday Sat-urday for an automobile trip along the Arrowhead trail to Los Angeles and on to San Diego. They will go to Camp Kt'arny to visit Floyd, the youngest eon o Mr. and Mrs. Hodges, who is stationed there. Mr. And Mrs. John R. Miirdock and Mr. and Mrs. Kent Morgan and small sons left Monday for an automobile trip to Yellowstone park. They will spend a couple of weeks in the park. Miss Zoe Robinson, who was the first-year English teacher at- the Murdock academy last year, left Saturday of last week for Berkeley, Cal., where she will enter the university. She was the honored guefit at a number of parties during the week. Monday a parly was given for her at the Mr-Shane farm, about twenty-five guests enjoying enjoy-ing a picnic luncheon in the grove. A number of dinner parties have been given this week for James V. Thompson, who Is home from Fortress Monroe. Va., on a furlough. Monday Mon-day evening he was the honored guest at a dinner party at the home of Mrs. John F. Jones. Pioneer day was celebrated at the MurdocTt academy. During the forenoon a splendid program pro-gram of speeches and musical numbers was given followed by a picnic luncheon in the grove and later the afternoon was given over to sports. and family and Dr. and Mrs. L. P. Mc-Caiia Mc-Caiia and daughter formed- a party which left Thursday by auto on a two weeks' trip to Portland. Mrs. G. W. Carey and daughter, Lucy, who have been visiting in Boise, left Friday for their home at Pocatello. Mrs. S. A. Roberts returned Thursday from Camp Lewis, where she had been with Lieutenant Roberts, who has left for France. Miss Edith Peterson of Ogden, Utah, is visiting- here, the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Cunningham, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Estabrook and Miss Angela Curran have returned from a week's outing at Guyer Hot Springs. Dr. and Mrs. E. A. Bryan left, Monday for the Pacific northwest.' ; Mrs. E. J.
