We will use the pre-season schedule to get ready for the region season. We will open our season on the road against Skyview on December 1 at 7:30 p.m. The University of Utah's basketball coach, Jerry Pimm, rated Sky View number two in the 4-A. Pimm ranked Hillcrest first and Skyline third. He rated Judge Memorial first in the 3-A; Box Elder, second and Provo, third." "I think the 3-A race will be a dog fight. It will depend on the team that makes the fewest key mistakes and can take advantage of the other team's mistakes by making a basket. That is the team that will come out on top," stated Moore. Coach Ron Moore kept nine seniors, five juniors and five sophomores for Uintah's varsity and junior varsity teams. "We feel we have as fine a senior bunch as Uintah has had in a number of years," said Moore. "Derrii Gardiner was the leading scorer last year, and was all region. He has exceptional ex-ceptional ability and has an excellent shooting touch. Ron Ellis and Ron Gardner have the potential to be super ball players. Burke Buckalew can be ranked as one of the best guards in Utah because of his quickness, passing and great eye for the basket, and that will relieve a lot of pressure off Derrin Gardiner." Moore added, "Brent Labrum ha: really looked good in his lea ping ability He will give us added depth on thf boards. Joe Gardiner is a pleasan surprise and he is improving every day Clark McClellan has been slowed dueh a knee injury. Clark will help the teal with quickness and his shooting ability Marty McCarrel will give us addec depth on the guard line. Dave Stone didn't play last year as a junior, but be has really improved. He has a lot ol hustle and desire." "Our opponents won't be able t( double team Derrin Gardiner. We ba Burke Buckalew, Joe Gardiner, Bred Labrum, Ron Gardner, Ron Ellis Clark McClellan, Marty McCarrel aw other cagers who can put the ball in ' hoop," remarked ron Moore.
