A'de.icious ham-turkey dinner with all the trimmings trim-mings was enjoyed by 27 people. Happy Anniversary was sung in honor of Mr and Mrs. llillie C. Ralphs. On December 20 at 7 p.m. the annual hnstmas party for the club members will be held at the Villa Cafe All members will bring their exchange gift for their secret pals. This time however, the cards will be signed with the donors name so that everyone finds (Hit who has been their secret pal the past year. Someone will also win a hamper of presents donated by all the club members. Manila M & L Homemakers were guests of the Damsel's Club in Dutch John Wednesday. Seventeen women attended. This was part auction and part bazaar as the crafts were displayed like a bazaar, but written bids were given. After participating in the auction, the Manila women enjoyed the tasty refreshments prepared by the Damsels. Temperatures swung up the middle of the week, but are dropping again. The high for the week was 54 on November 16 and the low 16 on Nov. 15. A trace of snow fell Sunday. It was much heavier on the mountains south of Manila. Sunday evening 4 inches had fallen several places on the mountain. More snow fell during the night on the mountain. Manila schools held parent-teacher conferences on Thursday, Nov. 8. The children did not go to school that day. Parents came by appointment to discuss their children's progress and to receive their report cards. The teachers from Manila High School met with the parents of those children living in the Manila or McKinnonarea during the forenoon. In the afternoon, the teachers drove to Dutch John to meet the parents of the students living in the Dutch John area. The Manila Elementary parent-teachers parent-teachers conference was held all day. The quilting on the senior citizen quilt was completed Thursday. This quilt is to be sold for funds for the center. Another quilt was marked and quilting started on it. This quilt belongs to an individual. A baby quilt was tied, also. The center has the new shuffleboard. The December senior citizens dinner will be the Christmas Dinner on December 8 at 6:30. Entertainment planned will be the High School Chorus under the direction of Ron Hamblin. For those who desire to stay later, games will be played. The Manila High School has announced an-nounced the honor roll for the first term of the 1979-80 school year as follows: Marshall Briggs, Sawn Sikich, Susan Cook, Phillip Ralphs, Natalier Radosevich, Starla Despain, Judy Reed, Robin Sadlier, Christy Triplett, Leslie Barber, Gwen Wilde, Michell Steinaker, Becky Barber, Christy Behunin, Randall Despain, Sara Wilkinson, Gwen Reed, Elizabeth Steinaker, and Shelly Bernard. Linda Sue Tinker underwent surgery in Salt Lake City, Utah last Wednesday. She is expected to be released from the LDS hospital on Monday, but will stay with friends until Wednesday. Quite a few of the Manila Ward LDS Church members attended the Green River, Wyoming LDS Stake Conference in Green River, Wyoming on Sunday. Allan Campbell was taken to the Sweetwater Memorial Hospital Friday night for medical attention and was released the same evening. The Bookmobile was in Manila on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Its next trip to Manila will be on December 21. Manila High School and community is working on the "Messiah" to be presented at the Manila High School on Decenber 15. |
