Many valuable, expensive books get misplaced each year which may or may not be replaceable, so the plea is to be diligent in returning all loaned books from our Parowan City Library. There will also be summer programs to look forward to, such as storytime, demonstrtions and art exhibits. PAROWAN At recent meetings held by the Parowan Library board, items discussed were lack of funds to carry on a normal operation of the library due to rising costs in all areas from buying books, periodicals to maintenance; scheduling of the lounge, books overdue and assignments to members of the board. According to the Librarian, Leta Evans, there will not be enough money to operate this year unless other resources are made available. After contacting the county commission, Board Chairwoman, Frankie Lou Bentley was encouraged and asked the members of the board to prepare an estimatre of costs in the separate areas of need, such as books, maintenance, wages, program costs. Members of the Library Board for this year include Frankie Lou Bentley of the city council, appointed by Mayor Robinson to serve as chairwoman; Chester Benson, vice chairman also over the maintenance, Beverly Taylor as Secretary-treasurer, Rose |
