Public meeting to consider natural resources of County "At the May 24th meeting we will gather information, concerns and comments from resource-realted groups, clubs, and in- dividuals in Iron County," Adams said. "Our concerns will then be combined with comments from other counties in the state and sent to the Department of Agriculture." More information on the meeting and the Resources Conservation Act is available at the E and I Conservation District office or the Soil Conservation Service office at 82 North 100 East in Cedar City. Iron County residents will have a chance to help appraise ap-praise the natural resources of the county and develop a conservation program to improve them, according to Alan Adams, chairman of the E and I Conservation District. A public meeting to record opinions of the problems, trends and needs for natural resources in the county will be May 24, at 7 p.m. in the SUSC Recital Hall. "What we learn at this meeting will help the U.S. Department of Agriculture direct programs in the natural resource field," Adams explained. "We can actually help set the needs and establish goals for the department's programs." The meeting will be sponsored by the E and I Conservation District and the USD A Soil Conservation Service. This opportunity to help plan USDA programs is a result of the Resources Conservation Act which President Carter signed into law last November. The law requires public participation and involvement in setting the needs and goals for soil and water conservation. |
