Show Price files for Commissioner Post 'k ' it t .. u, L , ii-'tft L. jj Robert Price, branch manager for Frontier Realty, Cedar City, has announced his candidacy for the two-year two-year post on the Board of Iron County Commissioners. Filing on the Republican ticket, Price said he firmly believes in Abraham Lincoln's description of government, of the people, by the people, and for the people. "If elected," elec-ted," he stated, "I promise to remain sensitive and responsive to the will of the people." The local businessman is a native of California, having been a resident of Iron County for four years. He most recently lived in Torrance, Calif., where he was a special agent for the U.S. Customs Office. He was an employee of the federal government for 16 years. "I feel strongly that my experience in government and private enterprise qualifies me to be an able member of the Iron County Commission," Price said in a release to local media. Price said he views one issue in the upcoming election is a change in the county government to provide better representation. Recently Price has visited with the commission advocating ad-vocating a five-man commission elected on a district basis. He also said "organized, controlled growth" in Iron County needed to be examined. "The subdivision ordinance needs examination and changes," he said. "An adequate master plan is also lacking for the county. Growth needs to be less 'hit and miss'." The present county commission is getting on top of the problem, he noted, "but the commission needs to stay on top as growth comes." Price also said he would encourage ROBERT PRICE more evening meetings to provide for more citizen participation. Price is a graduate of National Schools, Los Angeles, in auto and deisel mechanics; of the Treasury Law Enforcements Officers Training School in Washington, D.C; and of the Anthony School of Real Estate, Los Angeles. He is also taking real estate courses, working twoards his brokers license at SUSC. Price is a member of the Board of Directors of the Iron County Board of Realtors. The candidate served in Merchant Marine during World War II and participated in the Korean Conflect. An active member of the LDS Church, Price and his wife Connie live in MidValley where they are parents of four children, two of which still reside at home. |
