Show SUSC Lady T-Birds Enter Meet Five member of the Southern Utah State College women's track team will compete Friday and Saturday in the In-termoutain In-termoutain Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Region Seven meet at Tempe, Arizona. Mary Damiani, Chicago; will represent SUSC in the 880; Leslie Spicer, Schenectady, N.Y., will run in the mile and two-mile; and Sydney Keel, Fillmore, will compete in the 220 and the long jump. The Thunderbird 880 medley relay team has also qualified for the meet. The team consists of Keel, Damiani, Laurie Keel (Sydney's sister), and Barbara Gindl, Lynwood, 111. Each girl had to meet qualifying standards before she was allowed to enter the regional meet. Girls may qualify for national competition com-petition May 27-18 at Knoxville, Tennessee, at the regional meet. Teams entered include SUSC, Idaho State University, University of Southern Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Utah State, Brigham Young University, Wyoming, Colorado State, UTEP, and University of Utah. "BYU and Arizona will be the team favorites," SUSC Coach Kathryn Berg says. Damiani and Spicer each hold SUSC school records in their events. |
