I fy.. .-,.1 An art student who Ixdieves that the quality of work produced is closely tied to the amount of discipline exercised will exhibit his senior art portfolio May 11 -June 1 at the Southern Utah State College Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery. Alan J. Lewis' 20 piece exhibit, consisting primarily of watercolors and sculptured sculp-tured pieces, will be shown concurrnetly with the annual SUSC students exhibition. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. weekdays and from 1 - 6 p.m. Saturdays. A public reception will be held from 7-9 p.m. May 11 to officially open the two-part exhibition. In addition to the water-colors water-colors and sculptures, Lewis' portfolio includes acrylic paintings, a ceramic dinner service, lithographs and drawings. The Cedar City native will graduate with a BA in art education at June 2 commencement com-mencement exercises. Following his graduation he plans to pursue a teaching position at the high school level. "Art is like anything else. It requires a level of excellence ex-cellence achieved only by discipline and by putting forth the amount of time and effort required to successfully suc-cessfully complete a project," the 1969 Cedar High School graduate said. "Because art is problem solving process, once any particular problem is solved, it becomes a very satisfying experience," he said. Lewis is married to Janet Taylor, Provo, and they are the parents of a 15-month-old daughter Leslie. He is the son of Mr. Belden Lewis and the late Ona Lewis, Cedar City. SENIOR EXHIBIT. Alan J.
