Show Eye Emergencies In an emergency, a little foresight can save the sight of someone in your family. The National Society for the Prevention Pre-vention of Blindness, now celebrating its 70th anniversary, anniver-sary, suggests you keep the following ideas in your mind's eye: If an eye or eyelid is cut or, punctured, bandage it lightly and see a doctor immediately. Do not wash the eye or try to remove any objects. Never rub an eye with something some-thing in it. Instead, lift the upper eyelid outward and down over the lower lid and let tears wash out the dirt. If they don't, see a doctor. For a free booklet on eye care, write your state Prevention of Blindness Society, or the National Society for the Prevention of Blindness, 79 Madison Ave., N.Y..N.Y. 10016. i |
